  • Activity 4.8 (Preparation of Ester):
    1. Take 1 mL ethanol (absolute alcohol) and 1 mL glacial acetic acid in a test tube.
    2. Add a few drops of concentrated sulfuric acid.
    3. Warm the mixture in a water bath for 5 minutes.
    4. Pour the mixture into 20-50 mL water in a beaker.
    5. Smell the resulting mixture to detect the ester formed.
