- Activity 4.8 (Preparation of Ester):
- Take 1 mL ethanol (absolute alcohol) and 1 mL glacial acetic acid in a test tube.
- Add a few drops of concentrated sulfuric acid.
- Warm the mixture in a water bath for 5 minutes.
- Pour the mixture into 20-50 mL water in a beaker.
- Smell the resulting mixture to detect the ester formed.
