JEE Book Guide
Two years, one shelf, about ten books. Here is the IIT JEE book list built by phase — the Class 11 base, the Class 12 references, the Advanced depth, and the final PYQ stack — so you buy each book at exactly the moment it earns its keep.
Six NCERT books (Physics, Chemistry, Maths for Classes 11 and 12), one reference per subject — HC Verma for Physics, OP Tandon for Chemistry, RD Sharma for Maths — plus optional Advanced depth (Irodov, Cengage) and, in the final 6 months, one chapterwise PYQ book. That is the whole shelf.
Class 11 is where roughly half of JEE Physics and Physics-of-everything lives. The base shelf is deliberately small:
The Class 11 rule
Do not buy Advanced books in Class 11. A student who finishes the base shelf properly in Class 11 is far ahead of one who owns Irodov and has panic-bought nothing finished.
Finishing beats starting
Every subject should have exactly one 'in-progress' reference book. The reason JEE toppers have small shelves is the same reason they finish books: one deep stream at a time.
No new books after month 6-of-final-year
The last 8 weeks belong to PYQs, mocks, and re-solving your marked-wrong questions. A shiny new book in January is a time sink, not a rank tool.

That is 8–10 books across two years. If your stack is already past 15, the next purchase should be a notebook, not another title.
